Shop consciously
Clear labelling for your sake
As a Gina Tricot customer, it must be easy to shop consciously. We are constantly trying to increase the share of products made from organic cotton and recycled materials in our stores. We have also clearly taken a position on which materials we accept for use in our products. We are aware that when we produce garments in sustainable materials, it is the part of our environmental work that our customers can see most clearly. We therefore always label garments that are produced using sustainable materials with green labels and on the web we have collected all products under its own tab.
Organic cotton
All Gina Tricot garments that are labelled with organic cotton contain certified organic cotton. Our organic cotton is traceable all the way from fibres to finished products and is always grown without chemical pesticides or fertilizers, leading to reduced environmental impact.
Recycled materials
When we manufacture garments from recycled polyester (from either raw material spills or PET bottles) and recycled polyamide (usually from waste textiles from production) we significantly reduce the use of water, energy and chemicals in our production. Therefore by purchasing some of the products labelled as recycled materials customers make a statement.
TENCEL®
TENCEL® is a man-made textile fibre, also known as lyocell and made from cellulose, which is a renewable wood fibre material. Production occurs in a closed system where chemicals are reused, resulting in minimal environmental impact. We have sold products based on TENCEL® since autumn 2011.
Origin and production
For all our products, the standpoints stated below with respect to origin inspection and production are followed.
Animal welfare – In all cases where Gina Tricot sells leather, down or feathers, these originate from animals that were bred for meat production. – Gina Tricot sells only man-made furs of synthetic material. – Gina Tricot does not allow feathers plucked from live birds. – Gina Tricot does not allow mulesing, a procedure performed on Merino sheep in order to prevent fly strike.
Staff and community welfare – Gina Tricot also does not permit sandblasting of jeans in consideration for the health and safety of our jeans production staff.
Chemicals
Our products contain no harmful chemicals. We have also drawn up a list of chemicals that our suppliers by contract agree to comply with. Regular chemical tests are carried out to ensure that it is followed. Gina Tricot complies of course with legislation in place in our sales countries as well as the REACH (the Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals) legislation framework. Under REACH, Gina Tricot is obliged to provide on request information on any product containing a substance classified as one of very high concern. SVHC stands for Substances of Very High Concern and Gina Tricot chooses actively not to sell products containing SVHC and to update our list of chemicals in line with REACH.
